The Gates of Paradise, otherwise known as the doors of the Firenze Baptistery, by Lorenzo Ghiberti. They only took 27 years to complete! It’s a shame our current culture doesn’t have the patience for something like this. Nowadays, modern technologies would dramatically reduce the production time. The ubiquitous absence of a demand for beauty remains, as does the need for patience in design and production of such a magnificent piece.
